The ankle-brachial index (ABI) is regarded as extremely reliable indicator of symptomatic and asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and is ideal as an objective parameter for PAD screening.

If the ABI is automatically determined by by oscillometric arm and ankle measurement using VASCASSIST^®, the measurement is much easier than using the conventional Doppler method, which can only be performed by experienced users.
